While Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch was working a video op interview on Boston 25 this morning to talk up the City of Quincy’s planned responses to today’s imposition of a snow emergency for a storm that ended up dropping no lasting snow as of mid-morning today, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was concurrently announcing the unwinding of the City of Boston’s snow emergency.
Wu announced her calling of a snow emergency for Boston yesterday a half a day sooner than Koch announced his imposing of a snow emergency in Quincy.
Key to Mayor Wu’s actions would clearly appear to have been significantly motivated by the fact that the storm turned out to not be as much of a storm as had been anticipated per forecasts leading up the storm.
Mayor Wu also announced that no cars have ended up towed per Boston’s snow emergency protocols as, it would appear, tows were not necessary as the snowstorm and resultant expected accumulation of a fair amount of snow from the storm did not pan out as expected.
Not even close as a matter of fact.
Wu also announced that the street parking ban would be lifted at 4 pm today as well as reiterated that, unlike Quincy, that the regular Tuesday trash collection schedule in Boston would happen today.
Conversely, street parking in Quincy continues to be officially slated as restricted while at the same time the usual trash collection schedule has been pushed back a day this week.
The flooding was some of the worst I have seen in North Quincy and Squantum areas; however, the city was ready with pre-staged equipment, barricades, and safe street closures.
Strong work team Quincy!
We are so lucky, blessed really, to have 6X MVP Thomas P. Koch as Quincy Mayor.
Let us not forget, that Tom Koch has successfully managed more snow emergencies than most.
Also, Police Chief Kennedy and Fire Chief Jackson deserve credit for saving lives and keeping our city safe.
Imagine living under the Wu regime.
