Snow happens …
Do not let today’s sunny day well as an unseasonably near fifty degree high temperature expected later today fool you!
So far this winter season Climate Change has kept this four-letter word that is snow at bay for Quincy for the most part.
At most, Quincy has so far this winter suffered but a few rounds of dustings snow but more often locals have found themselves on the wet side of the rain/snow line given the impact of relatively warm coastal waters and these storms’ paths.
This time, however, the impending Nor’easter is expected to take a path such that forecasts for the snowfall upon Quincy tomorrow are mostly falling in the six to perhaps as much as twelve inch range.
Additionally, Quincy Quarry’s media brethren at The Universal Hub were posting a Four Slice Alert on its one to five slice scale French Toast Storm Alert scale when this Quincy Quarry story was published.
Further, the snow is expected to be wet and heavy snow as well as that the weather will then turn cold such that the blanket of snow will thus freeze hard.
Worse yet, for the superstitious, tomorrow is a thirteenth of the month even if not on a Friday
In other words, Quincy locals be Q’ed.
Additionally, tomorrow will include an 11.4 foot high tide at 12:53 pm as well as high winds.
Fortunately for residents in low lying locations along the waterfront, the wind direction is expected to be such that it will not much enhance storm surge.
Even so, the usual places where coastal flooding occur should prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.
For example, shortly before 10 am today Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced school closings as well as a snow emergency for given what is expect the most consequential snowfall in Boston in two years.
Conversely, while Quincy Quarry News was working up this Quarry story, there no word about the impending storm out of Quincy peerless mayor to heard by Quarry personnel.
Instead, the most recent post on the City of Quincy website is about the Presidents Day Winter Festival next Monday.
On the other hand, by chance Quincy Quarry’s renowned Photo Recon Team Six stumbled upon how Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch appears to have taken his all-wheel drive Chevy Tahoe Secret Service Special Edition city ride home for the weekend out of perhaps an abundance of caution in advance of the impending storm.
In short, about the only good news is that kids can expect can only reasonably expect a snow day will eventually be called for tomorrow, however much to the chagrin of their parents, especially as parents will have to see their kids undertake remote learning protocols enhanced given the COVID epidemic.
That and how kids can enjoy building snowpersons as well as enjoying some sledding after the storm for at few days given a hard freeze after the storm passes for the first time in at least two years.
Finally, as well as needless to say, Quincy Quarry News every growing legions of loyal readers can rest assured the Quarry has made ready to cover the storm as much as it will be covering Quincy with snow.
