Late Thursday afternoon just at the evening commute was ramping up featured a Quincy Police Department chase of two suspected narcotics traffickers, the pursued suspects crashing their ride into another vehicle, a foot pursuit, and the use of State Police helicopter infrared sensor technology to capture the suspects.

Two black male suspects ended up on Route 3 with a Quincy police vehicle following the suspects around sunset. The suspects crashed their ride into another vehicle as well as that the suspects’ ride came back as stolen when Quincy police ran its plate numbers early on in the going.
Additionally, concurrent with the chaos, Quincy Fire Department personnel, along with an ambulance, were dispatched the collusion scene to take care of those in the unsuspecting vehicle struck by the fleeing suspects.
At the same time, what was curious to Quincy Quarry’s senior Citizen Police Scanner Monitor was that the police officer following the suspected traffickers made much of how he was not pursuing the suspects shortly after the suspects crashed their ride and by extension was apparently instead trying to see them pullover.
“The suspects had failed to stop for Quincy officers, and after crashing, they fled into the adjacent woods,” state police said in a statement
In any event, the suspects then fled their ride and then apparently ended up hiding within the woods contained within the Route 3 and Highway 93 interchange.
Needless to say, the evening commute quickly devolved into a Charlie Foxtrot.
Quincy police officers searched for the suspects for a time on foot and after having no success, Quincy police called upon the Massachusetts State Police to provide helicopter to help with the search.

A Massachusetts State Police helicopter then flew to the scene and then spotted the suspects via its infrared camera sensor.
In turn, once so located, the suspects were then captured and taken into custody around 5:30 pm.
Why did the Quincy Police not use its helicopter?
I had the day off.
I pity the fool who thinks the QPD can operate an aircraft; they have a tough time operating road vehicles.
Even if you won’t fly yourself — not voluntarily anyway, you are correct.
The TV show “Cops” should have been filming it.
Harris,
We looked at Quincy around 8 years or so ago but the Quincy police lieutenant assigned as the point person kept wanting to score serious hours on our payroll past what our budget could cover. Well past.
