When the New York Times drops a load on something that has but as a modest neighborhood impact as do dog parks, the so-addressed problem is likely old news.  Wicked old news.

In this instance, the Times recently published an editorial on the myriad of problems with dog parks, problems most responsible dog owners have long known to be legitimate criticisms.

Key problems include unruly dogs care of irresponsible owners to parks being a vector for illness transfers all too familiar to parents of human children when their kids enter daycare or start school.

While fur baby mothers can be every bit as tough as hockey moms as well as that Quincy Quarry News personnel are well-familiar with the well-behaved canine playgroups on the Boston Common, all too often elsewhere dog parks are flawed places for little Fluffy to frolic.

In turn, as well as needless to say, the Koch Maladministration has set a low bar when it comes to establishing a dog park as well as is also well-along with a gobsmacking plan to triple down on a bad larger plan.

Quincy has only one official dog park and it is located just off Quarry Street roughly opposite the Sons of Italy Hall and adjacent to the Avalon apartments complex.

While the dog park play area facilities were significantly funded by a private charitable foundation grant in that ran in the low six figure range, the Koch Administration screwed the pooch to close an agreement in principal to establish egress to the dog park via adjacent the Avalon apartment complex.

In turn, given so koching-up on an egress easement, the Koch Maladministration spent stupid money as in upwards of perhaps in the neighborhood of million dollars to build an access road through a problematic former quarry site, something which Quincy Quarry has previously exposéd.

And as if this massively unbalanced as well as unapproved outlay on a road was not sufficiently profligate, the Koch Maladministration is planning to spend upwards of $20 million in total to re-relocate the City of Quincy Animal Control operation next to the dog park.

That and build a Quincy Police Department K9 kennel and training facility adjacent to both the dog pound and the dog park.

Up in smoke …

Imagine, if one can, the potential for trouble arising from dog park visitors commingling with strays held in custody by Animal Control and Quincy Police Department K9’s coming and going.

In short, yet another Only in Quincy© wicked expensive koching-up of things.

That and the first time that Quincy Quincy News finds itself in full agreement with the New York Times.
