Surfing dogs hit the waves in Pacifica, California yesterday for the 2023 World Dog Surfing Championship.

How fearless are these surfers?

Hang twenty fearless.

Not only is the water wicked cold at the site of this canine surfing world championships competition in Northern California, it is but a short ten miles away from The Mavericks, easily the biggest and gnarliest surf in at least the Continental United States, the site of this world championships event is known for its own surf.

In addition to a variety of surfing competition categories, other events include Dog Disc (catching a frisbee or similar) and Ball Fetch in Water competitions, various costume contest categories, and even a “Yappy” Hour to fete all of the competitors after the competitive events are concluded.

This free to attend event also hosts an dog adoption booth as well as that competition registration fees and donations go to support dogs in need.
