Care of a daring secret photo recon mission undertaken at great risk to the shooter comes arguably definitive confirmation that the current Ward One ward heeler is in the bag for Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch via the securing of photographic proof of the ward heeler at Mayor Koch’s reelection campaign headquarters Wednesday night.
This photo recon mission also provided one of the few sightings of this ward heeler outside of City Hall meetings.
Then again, given the ward heeler’s obsequious support of the mayor’s initiatives citywide while at the same time as all but ignoring the concerns of ward residents, one can readily fathom why this ward heeler is laying low even if still arguable cowardice on his part.
Granted, the ward heeler can support whatever candidate he wishes to support, such is still unseemly given, for but one example, the heeler carrying water for to see the local Zoning Board of Appeal approve an outrageously outsized variance granting to a group including Mayor Koch’s consiglieri to redevelop the site of the long closed Imperial Dynasty restaurant adjacent to the City of Quincy’s Department even those in the neighborhood were all but universally as well as adamantly against this latest proposed redevelopment grift.
Fortunately, what with interest rates currently high and expected to stay high for at least an extended while as well as that lenders insisting on serious personal skin in the game to grant a construction loan these days, it will likely be awhile before this project might actually commence.
In the meanwhile, the ward heeler has stated on the record that he intends to champion a resubmitting to the City Council Mayor Koch’s controversial ask to grant a 99 year giveaway sweetheart deals on the ground lease on the city-owned property underneath most of Granite Links semi-private golf course as well as a tax break on the assets developed by the owner/operator of the golf course.
In turn, such only further confirms that the ward heeler is in the bag for the Koch Maladministration instead of taking care of his constituents.
Then again, as he has long been ignoring all but ignoring his constituents other than those koched-up, there is no real difference in his current non-actions and misdeeds.
The worst deal possible for the city!!
They are they not living up to the financial responsibilities of the present lease which still has 28 years remaining. They paid I believe 4.2% when they owe 10% of revenue in lieu of rent. Absolutely absurd!! There should be an audit before anything is discussed. Can’t live up to existing deal so why would you expect them to live up to terms of a new deal!! 99 years are you serious??
AND the plan is to build a 140 room hotel on site where the driving range is presently. Think traffic is bad now, just you wait.
Let the deal expire and take it over just like at Furnace GC, bid out for a company to run the course keep all the profit.
Seems pretty simple
Quincy Quarry readers,
Things are even worse than Frank has noted.
First up, while Granite Links can deduct some expenses when calculating its annual payments to the City of Quincy, there are some questions about at least some of them. Moreover, a number of years ago Mayor Koch on the down low agreed to let Granite Links take some of its gross revenue out of the calculations when determining its annual payments per the original agreement.
Next, while an audit has been commissioned given the City Council’s insistence, the auditor chosen is the same one who has long reviewed the city’s books.
Also note that things for the Furnace Brook Golf Course have been gamed such that local taxpayers will be subsidizing a near private course for its members.
Finally, it is Quincy Quarry’s view that instead of Frank’s proposing to let the Granite Hills lease and in-lieu of tax agreement expire rather than extend it and that the City of Quincy then take control of the course and its facilities that the City should instead move to evict the operators of the Granite Links over its apparent repeated defaultings of its current lease and property tax obligations.
Has he ever gone against anything Koch has perpetrated on the taxpayers of the city?
