Hingham Apple store whacked by SUV, one dead and sixteen hurt per official reports

Hingham shoppers and store employees were impacted when an SUV drove into the Apple Store at the Derby Street Shoppes shortly before 11 AM today and so caused extensive damage and injuries.
A massive first responders rolled to the scene and media presence then followed. Additionally, a number of good Samaritans on the scene stepped up to assist
Two of the injured were transported to Boston for care given the nature of their injuries and the rest were sent to South Shore Hospital for treatment.
Update: Injured number increased to nineteen.
Officials at South Shore Hospital say they are treating multiple patients with "somewhat diverse" injuries following the crash at the Apple Store in #Hingham, from serious head trauma to mangled limbs and lower-extremity trauma.

Additionally, newscopters were aloft over the scene so as to obtain video for the likely the motor vehicle accident story of the day on local televised news.
The response apparently also included someone from the Quincy Police Department who appears to have assisted by taking accident scenes photographs and such per Quincy Quarry’s monitoring of Quincy Police radio transmissions.
As for the cause of the accident, while there is the possibility of a disgruntled customer or an Apple employee going postal, most likely the driver of the SUV confused the gas pedal with the brake, a common enough problem, as well as may have also been distracted while driving. but likely was not impaired given the time of day when the accident offered.

In any event, reports indicate that police are speaking with the driver at the scene and so far no obvious signs of an arrest of the driver.
