Holding someone – anyone – accountable at the MBTA is finally going to happen shortly after the first of year.
Granted, the head of T was allowed to resign instead of suffering a more than well-deserved two in the hat, thrown under a bus is still thrown under a bus.
Plus, surely a whole lot of others with culpablity as regards the hot mess that this the T are so far looking to skate facing their just desserts and so also save their pensions.
At minimum, various other senior management types tied to the T should also be shown the door via at least a partially facing saving “resignation’ letter even as the door whacks them on their tukases on their way out.
For example, Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch as he is also been the senior member of the MBTA Board of Directors as well as has been the Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board for a decade.

How much did the MBTA pay this clown to walk away?
Gunny,
Amazingly, per media reports soon to be ex-MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak did not score a “Golden Parachute.” On the other hand, he was making a base salary of $325k a year as well as scored $80k and $21k in performance bonuses over the two most recent years for handing out same. At the same, no clue what he might be looking at in the way of pension benefits. At this point anyway.
Mayor Koch should apply for the newly opened position as the MBTA GM, He has already proven and demonstrated he is perfectly qualified for the job. However, as noted by the Editor in the previous post. the salary and bonuses may not be adequate to entice him to at least submit his resume in the hopes of at least getting an interview.
