MBTA workers damage third rail during overnight track work on the Red Line
– News covered by Quincy Quarry News with commentary added.
On the first overnight of work for a planned two week project to redo Red Line track per a laundry list of fixes mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration given a still ongoing spate of troubling fails by the MBTA, MBTA repair equipment derailed near the Quincy Center Red Line station around 1:45 AM in the wee hours of this morning.
While the equipment was “rerailed” by approximately 3:45 AM, third rail power was not restored until roughly 5 AM, a bus shuttle had to be implemented at the regular time for the start of Red Line service as rail service was not restored until approximately 6:20 AM.
No word, however, if any of the track scheduled for replacement overnight last might was actually replaced; however, Quincy Quarry News’ ever-growing legions of loyal readers know where the Quarry Newsroom touts have placed their bets.
Further, given the local angle of this latest MBTA fail, Quincy Quarry News briefly considered reaching out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment as he is also both the decade-long Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board as well as the senior member of the MBTA Board of Directors; however, the Quarry’s City Editor decided why bother waiting as he is surely focused with endeavoring how to response to his expected being hit with a civil rights violation by US Attorney Rachael Rollins.

I certainly hope those are not paid positions.
Asterisk,
No, they are not paid positions, not that paying for doing so would make any difference.
You get what you pay for!
