Boston.com, the free news outlet unit of the Boston Globe, conducted a poll as to more regional public opinion about the long ongoing legal food fight between the City of Quincy and the City of Boston over Boston’s pending plans to rebuild its Long Island Bridge.
FIve hundred people weighted in on the poll.
71% supported the City of Boston’s plans to rebuild its bridge with 28% opposed to doing so, a ratio of over two and half to one.
As expected, many of those opposed to the bridge cited by Boston.com and posting to its article displayed their misunderstandings of all manner of the facts and/or applicable law as regards Boston’s plans to rebuild its bridge.
For example, how the City of Boston has both the right to rebuild its bridge as well as resume traffic traveling through Quincy to go and fro Long Island.

Additionally, if Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch opts to continue to endeavor to play the Delay Game, the City of Quincy could well find itself sued for the cost increases so caused upon the City of Boston, if not also treble damages.
In turn, if the City of Boston were successful with such a lawsuit, Quincy taxpayers would find themselves on the hook to pay for the damages awarded to Boston.
That and how Quincy taxpayers could so concurrently end up paying for upwards of the whole cost of rebuilding the bridge if treble damages were to awarded but have noting to show for it such as recreational access to Long Island.
