Orange Line Train Fire on bridge over Mystic River

The MBTA continues to suffer troubling safety problems but days after the National Transportation Commission safety team submitted its critical final report on its review of the operations of the T.
The latest problem: a fire broke out on the Orange Line bridge over the Mystic River shortly before 7 AM this morning.
Initial reports indicate roughly 200 passengers fled the train, many broke train windows to escape, and one women jumped into the river and then swam to shore.

For example for a local angle, Quincy Quarry might finally opt to reach out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment as he is also the decade long Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board.
Additionally, Mayor Koch is the senior member of the MBTA’s Board of Directors.
