Following the long-expected ruling by the United States Supreme Court on Friday that abortion was a matter for states to decide as opposed to a federal constitutional right, protesters were out protesting the ruling throughout the country, including one protest held on Kim Jong Koch Plaza in front of Quincy’s City Hall the very next day.

The protest rally was civil – not even the bullhorn used was all that loud.

Even so, a police presence was in place monitoring the situation.

Also, while there were multiple speakers at the rally, Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch was nowhere to be seen.

Then again, Mayor Koch made much of his leaving the Democratic Party four years ago as he is resolutely pro-life.

While, no argument, Mayor Koch is entitled to his beliefs, it is still only fair to note that he may well be not only one of the largest politicians in Eastern Massachusetts on a height-adjusted basis as well as a male will never be pregnant even if he looks to be due shortly, Koch is perhaps the most prominent politician in the region to hold to fast to a pro-life position.

That and is also woefully short on senior female officials in his administration as well as even less so when it comes to people of color.

How rare are Mayor Koch’s positions as compared to other politicians?

Not only did lame-duck Republican Charlie Baker all but instantly promulgate perhaps the strongest gubernatorial executive orders in the country to buttress Massaachussett’s strong pro-choice policies and statutes, even arguably socially über-conservative Democratic United States House of Representative member Stephen Lynch, a co-religionist with Mayor Koch, has come around to holding at least some pro-choice views.

Similarly, on an international level, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (Democrat, California) today attended a mass in the Vatican today that was said by Pope Francis and she received the sacraments even though the archbishop in her home city has banned her from receiving communion within his diocese.
