– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy City Hall hacks take Juneteenth Monday off but local trash workers are stuck working.
Multiple Quincy. Quarry CItizen Journalists have advised Quincy Quarry News that trash pickup this week was happening per the regular schedule rather than delayed a day as per usual practice given the event of federal, state and/or local holidays.
In turn, Quincy Quarry News duly checked to see if a holiday trach pickup delay had been scheduled but could not.

At best, all that could be found was that Quincy’s City Hall as well as all manner of other city operations such as the local libraries and the local schools were closed for the day.
Granted, collecting trash is a legitimate public health concern; at the same time, it must be noted that many of the local residential trash collection workers are people of color as well as do enjoy a day off on other federal, state and/or local holidays.
Then again, Quincy Mayor Thomas P, Koch has a checkered history when it comes to race relations.
In short, yet again only in Quincy during the reign of the Koch Maladministration.

White privilege is king in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Come on, man, Tom Koch (selfishly) bends over frontwards for black men and has even hired a few for non-white-collar city jobs.
Koch only bends over backward for white out-of-town developers who build unaffordable housing, which helps keep minorities out of their buildings and our city!
Did Koch make any public statement about Juneteenth? Anything at all?
None known.
My trash wasn’t collected until Tuesday (usually Monday but pushed back a day for the FEDERAL holiday)
You’re showing a pic of dpw trucks. Dpw is DEF mostly white guys who im sure were more than happy to collect their time and a half for the holiday.
Koch sucks. But you’re fishing here
Sarah,
Quincy Quarry is aware of a number of local residences who had their trash collected this week on their regular day. Also, the Quarry was advised that some collection times were different to much different from usual practice. Further, be sure to note that the Quarry reported per what it was told as well as then checked out things as best it could (e.g., could not find any word of the City of Quincy advising of a day’s delayed service given the Juneteenth Monday holiday).
At the same time, no argument with you that the good old boys at DPW love tapping the time and half honey pot even if the trash truck image used in this story is of a Park and Recreation/Department of Natural Resources trash truck.
