– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News with commentary added
After a hot start to 2022, this week was for the most part a quiet one other than one budding Q-up nonpareil.
About the only thing of bemusement to the Quincy Quarry newsroom this week was Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s attempt to hijack a presser on settlement money coming the Commonwealth’s way to help deal with the opioid crisis to pimp his long-ongoing efforts to kochblock the City of Boston rebuilding its bridge to Long Island on its dime so that it can then offer an enhanced level of substance abuse recovery services on the island than in the past before the old bridge was condemned and then demolished in 2014.
In what once can only view as at least amusing, Mayor Koch is continuing to spout the same arguments against the bridge he has long pimped even though they have already all been turned aside in all manner of courts as well as permitting authorities and a now all but certain to be rejected pro se filing by the Chaubunagungamaug Nipmuck Tribe as to date all tribal claims on the island have previously been found without legal standing.
As such, one wonders if Boston Mayor Janet Wu will bother meeting with him per the koched-up expectation that everything is on the table even though in point of fact Koch does not even have a pair of deuces in his hand.
For example, with all needed permits in hand, the City of Boston could put the bridge out for bid after perhaps first rejecting Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s ask for a meeting to press positions that Boston has already long rejected for various good reasons.
Further, Boston might even be pondering suing the City of Quincy for any and all cost increases caused by Koch’s dogged and on one occasion in particular found to be an illegal denial of a local approval needed as well as potential further arguable claims that the Koch Machine has long pursued vexatious litigation and so caused years of all manner of costly delays to be inflicted upon the City of Boston.
After all, the City of Quincy as well as city employees during the reign of the Koch Maladministration have been slapped with court orders to pay punitive damages for denying others their lawful property rights and so offers up a pattern or practice argument to be made in such a theoretical City of Boston lawsuit.
Granted, Quincy Quarry does not know if the City of Boston may be pondering such a countersuit seeking serious millions in damages, much less actually filing such a hypothetical lawsuit.
Even so, one can still only reasonably assume that the thought of so suing the City of Quincy has probably at least been floated along the way.

I wonder how many young lives will ultimately be lost due to Mayor Koch’s preventing a much-needed drug treatment facility from opening during an opioid pandemic. Everybody knows somebody that needs substance abuse help.
Quincy is not only home to the bridge that nobody uses; the city is also home to a needed bridge that nobody can use.
It is not surprising that our pay-for-play and anti-LGBTQ Mayor continues to feed his wealthy chalk-white bottom-feeding, scumbag lawyers and FRIENDS instead of helping many struggling families in the city.
Time for Plan B.
Despite all the TAX DOLLARS that have already been PISSED AWAY on this fool’s errand, Koch should probably try to negotiate limited access to Long Island for Quincy residents for special events like fireworks or the tall ships. Possibly even access for fishermen — but that might be pushing it since Koch has created such an adversarial climate with the City of Boston.
That’s about as good as it’s going to get.
Once again — thanks a lot Mayor Koch.
