– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News
The City of Quincy’s Department of Natural Resources trucked up!
Part 1 of an at least two-part series of exposés.
Given a tip, the Quarry’s fearless Photo Recon Team Six put on camo and hit the woods that have long protected the country club clubhouse at the Natural Resources, neé Park and Recreation Department from view to undertake a telephoto recon photoshoot.
The reason for this Quincy Quarry News exclusive photoshoot?
Not only to exposé how many trucks are operated by the Natural Resources Department, but also how its large fleet of rides includes not one, not two, but three cherry picker trucks operated by the Department of Natural Resources.
That and what looks to be one of the newer but not necessarily lower mileage fleet of rides given the long-rumored common practice of mostly but driving around much of day by “some” among the city departments’ myriad of maintenance workers
Even so, three cherry pickers for tree maintenance needs notwithstanding, tree service of problematic city trees still appears to be open to question.
Specifically, without even trying, the Quarry’s Photo Recon Team Six spotted a dead tree all but directly opposite the Natural Resources Department’s long called a clubhouse of a headquarters as well as not all that far past the right-field fence of Adams Field.
Granted, while this tree is now little more than a short snag of a tree and thus not posing an imminent risk of danger to passersby unless one tries to climb it, that this stump is still standing where it is oh so obviously still standing is still embarrassing nonetheless.
The biggest what the Q, however, is how the Natural Resources Department’s trash truck is easily the cleanest as well as surely the most pimped-out trash truck in at least the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
After all, who could imagine that another city department could top the Quincy Fire Department’s hosers when it comes to polishing their “brass?”
Quincy QuarryNews knew as well as first exposéd it over seven years ago.
Further gobsmacking is how it is still festooned with Park and Recreation Department markings.
The Quincy Department of Natural Resources should be painting their fleet in camouflage colors at its trucks are usually deployed in hiding mode!
With very few garbage cans to empty at our city parks; less wear and tear on the garbage truck and city personnel.
While out walking, I usually see many plastic bags full of dog waste scattered around our otherwise well-kept parks due to the lack of trash cans.
Right on, Lin, the goose poop and bags of dog crap are keeping our parks sh*tty!
“Otherwise well-kept parks elsewhere ” — have you never seen the deplorable condition of the somewhat recently completed $6 million makeover of Kincaid Field in West Quincy?
Most only go to Kincaid Field to score drugs.
I’d attribute that more to the laziness of the dog owners who leave them there.
Asterisk, go count cans!
You missed the point. I don’t doubt that there’s a dearth of cans but that doesn’t justify leaving the poop-bags all over the ground.
Park and Recreation Department takes on a whole new meaning in the Q.
Vehicles are mostly parked and with 2 or 3 times the number of people on-site required to do the job at hand, it’s little more than recreation.
LOL.
Walter, West Quincy? Be honest; it is not just your park!
Betsy,
Actually, I usually travel to Cunningham Park in Milton. Takes me longer to get to, but its’s way better maintained than KIncaid and much safer, especially after sundown.
West Quincy, roll em up and lock em.
Soon the real work will be delegated to the city’s child labor force, AKA summer staff.
