Massachusetts marijuana excise tax revenue exceeds alcohol for the first time.

In fact, state pot tax revenue has blown past state alcohol tax revenue by almost 50% halfway through the current fiscal year as the tax take on (legal sales of, etc.) marijuana was $74.2 million whereas the tax on booze was only $51.3 million.

Needless to say, the still ongoing approvals of recreational marijuana retail sales locations have surely helped fuel (legal, ed) marijuana sales to new highs.

No word, however, how much of the marijuana sales tax revenue might be applied to scoring needed technology that will provide scientific evidence that might hold up in court when it comes to pursuing charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence or otherwise attempting to function while buzzed.
