Quincy Center’s Generals Bridge inexplicably after it was opened up for traffic
On Monday of this week, Quincy Quarry News happened upon finding Quincy Center’s wicked expensive Generals Bridge to pretty nowhere open for use by motor vehicles and then duly published word of same on Tuesday as it would appear that no one else had done so.
Then on Wednesday, Quarry personnel passing through on the way to look for fresh news on the mean streets of Quincy found the bridge inexplicably closed.
Granted, while the Quincy Quarry has a few theories as to why the Generals bridge is now again closed to vehicles, one thing is all but certain: the Koch Maladministration is surely as well as very closely monitoring Quincy Quarry and then reacting accordingly.
In any event,, Quincy Quarry can report that it spotted and then photo-documented the first pedestrian Quarry personnel have both seen a pedestrian using the bridge as well as apparently also per a reasonable assumption safely crossing the Burgin Park Raceway, however implausibly.
Considering the next to no good reason for crossing the road at this point along the raceway as well as given the not inconsiderable risk involved to do so, one can only view both crossing the raceway as well as also safely as an early two-fer Christmas miracle.
This is the Q — strange and stranger things — inexplicable things — regularly happen. No rhyme, no reason, no explanation — even convoluted “logic” fails.
I bet some out-of-town pre-fab developer ordered that silly bridge to nowhere at our expense! Further infuriating, I think all of the bridge’s hero statues were ordered by Mayor Koch to help us swallow the price tag!
A perfect bridge to jump off after opening your tax bill!
Gloria,
True that. If the fall doesn’t kill you, a passing Red Line or Commuter Rail Train will.
Also, note the sign indicating “BRIDGE CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” How about “BRRIDGE CLOSED” I suppose, at the moment, we could drive, like, a third, or maybe halfway across — just for the thrill of it all.
I don’t understand this bridge at all. Where is supposed to go? Please somebody run against Koch
Marjorie,
The latest Quincy Center bridge to nowhere was built as a secondary accessway for all of the new development in and around where the Ross Garage used to be. Kochian illogic, Koch and mirrors, etc.
How much was spent on this jumping platform?
North of 10 large.
Good luck trying to make a right turn onto Burgin Parkway heading north as traffic bears down on you at 45 MPH!
More like 50-plus given green lights at Burgin’s intersections at both Hannon Parkway and Granite Street.
