Quincy Quarry coverage on the return of the Quincy Christmas Parade after a COVID hiatus last year hits the fan.

  • Updated and enhanced Quincy Quarry Coverage!!!

After the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s local Christmas parade, the parade returned to the Q.

Even so, given new concerns arising from the horrific running down of parade participants and parade watchers in Waukesha Wisconsin a week ago, security was tight for yesterday’s Christmas Parade in Quincy.

Among other things, blocking side streets along the parade route with police cruisers and all manner of other city rides.

As is well-known, the Quincy Christmas Parade is an overtime and detail pay opportunity nonpareil for certain city employees and looks to have become even more so this year.

This year’s extra pay opportunity looks to have been enhanced by the appearance of significantly added security via the new to the Quarry’s eye greatly increased use of city blue-collar workers.

These workers were tasked with parking their park their city rides in the middle of cross streets along the parade route and then parking their tukas into their rides to enjoy a warm and comfortable place to watch the parade as they so block terrorists and Masshole drivers from terrorizing the parade.

In turn, however, while such will surely further feather Christmas shopping funds for all manner of city employees even if local taxpayers will end up stuck with at least some of the cost of this extra, if not extravagant, this use of even more city employees “working” the parade will leave them stuck with watching the Patriots game on their smartphones as well as that they could not readily enjoy a cold one while watching the game.

Additionally, a phalanx of police motorcycles from all manner of regional police departments led the way and so made a noisy show of force.

Next up, as well as needless to say, Quincy’s number one fan of parades was front and center yet again this year as he followed close behind the motorcycle police security detail.

In fact, one could also argue that he yet again all but highjacked credit for Christmas this year.

That and looks to have spent a lot of tax dollars as well as a private foundation’s money which Quincy Quarry has yet to discern the sources of the foundation’s funds.

In time, however …

In the meanwhile, one cannot help but wonder what Santa Claus thought about Quincy’s also belly full of jelly and elfin mayor so all but taking credit for Christmas in Quincy.

After all, Santa Claus does not use tax dollars to provide toys for good girls and far fewer good boys.

Nor does Santa take money from outsiders with expectations of far more goodies in return.

Most especially not from those whacked for big fines by the Massachusetts of Campaign and Political Finance.

Returning to security, the phalanx of police motorcycles was followed by a bagpipe band full of firefighters blowing forlorn tunes.

Then again, baleful tunes could well be the right ones as local 2022 property tax bills will be set in the next few weeks.

Given ongoing events and perhaps events not happening, Quincy Quarry cannot help but warn its ever-growing legions of loyal readers that their 2022 property tax bills could entail increases.

Potentially sizeable increases.
