Pet owners spend a lot of time calling their dogs, calling them for mealtime, calling them in from the back yard, and calling them out when they misbehave. Now, animal tech researchers are working on a way for dogs to call their owners, Fido on the phone. Image via PetChatz.com

Researchers are working on a phone that allows your dog to ‘call’ you.
While a dog phone will not be able to sit alongside of the Batphone anytime soon, much less be available for Christmas shopping this year, what is available for Christmas shopping for the second year in a row given the pandemic?
In any event, animal technology researchers at universities in Scotland and Finland have developed what looks to be a viable tennis ball-based dog phone.
Dogs are now able to readily make face and voice calls via the tennis ball-based phone design.
At the same time, it is not clear how their humans can reach out to them and as helicopter moms use cellphones to leash their children.
in any event, going with a tennis ball-based design was a breakthrough.
A huge breakthrough.
At the same time, the university researchers did not address Canine Separation Anxiety or how dog calls might end up detrimentally impacting their humans’ family and friends calling plans’ monthly bills.
That and how dog calls to humans might cause problems for their humans while they are at work or might otherwise be occupied.
Additionally, no one really knows if the dogs are intentionally calling their humans.
“Some days he would sort of lean on the ball then ring me with his butt or with his shoulder.”
Also, no word if developing a cat phone is planned.
Then again, like cats care.
