– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News.
Quincy Center repainting continues at warp speed.
The mad dash to see Quincy Center spruced up in time for this Saturday’s dedication of the Generals Bridge and thus yet another photo op for Mayor Koch, however dubious to do so on 9/11, continues apace.
While out and about, Quincy Quarry personnel happened up workers actually working away feverishly to paint both Quincy Center streetlights as well as even inexplicably painting steel parking sign poles.
So what, apparently, about taking care of potholes and such elsewhere around the Q.
In turn, the workers photographed were clearly not pleased to be so photographed and thus one can only assume that those so exposéd to be actually working will likely suffer ribbing during card games and while watching sports as well as doing who only knows what else in the backrooms of the DPW corporation yard behind the Quincy Police Department headquarters.
That and so potentially taking away from their time spent driving around with no other goals in mind other than potentially taking care of personal errands.
After all, “do you know who I am” is the de facto mantra during the reign of the Koch Maladministration.
Maybe Koch thinks the Generals will be reviewing the light poles throughout Quincy center.
Who would ever doubt that light poles will be of primary interest to them? But probably not as primary an interest as figuring how and when they can escape the toxic pretenses of their host.

Does anyone suspect — even for a moment — that the generals who will be attending are not aware of the long-standing American tradition of NOT erecting monuments/statues honoring government or other national figures who are still living? Neither are they to be portrayed on coins or currency, not on stamps, no official portraits in government buildings. The mayor is really putting these people on the spot, possibly even embarrassing them, and in doing so, is cheapening and throwing long-standing tradition out the window. An insult to American tradition.
True that. Quincy’s peerless mayor is a “Semper I” kinda guy.
So the Q has now engaged the services of an outside painting contractor to paint all the street light and traffic light poles and fixtures along McGrath Highway. They were out there this morning, painting away, obstructing traffic with a police detail and all the trimmings..
I am worried about how much it will cost taxpayers.
Put it this way, your real estate taxes ain’t going down in your lifetime.
You know that it’s a shell game. If real estate values go up taxes go up. If real estate values go down, the tax rate goes up, so you’ll still be paying more. All the crazy spending is hidden in there somewhere.
Louis,
FYI: the crazy spending is definitely hidden. For but starters, not only are the Koch Maladministration’s released to the public budgets wicked thin on details, La Kocha Nostra has also NOT listed the actual amounts spent for at least a decade.
Yeah — and my friends can call me Louie
