Sidewalk, what sidewalk?!?!?
The self-inflicted opportunities to knock the Koch Maladministration keep on coming.
That and are much much appreciated by the Quincy Quarry News crew as they are tired of having to hit the mean as well as wicked wet of late streets of Quincy in their relentless pursuit of news about Quincy.
Needless to say, Quincy Quarry took advantage of this latest opportunity to put a knock on the Koch Machine as these sorts of Quincy Quarry story opportunities all but write themselves.
The problem and thus the story?
Formerly, Saville Avenue adjacent to Presidents Place had a sidewalk.
At least it did from Saville Avenue’s intersection with Hancock Street to Presidents Place’s loading dock that fronts Saville adjacent to its parking garage.
Now, however, this sidewalk been squeezed in its middle.
The Koch Maladministion inexplicably endeavored to do a good thing in parking sparse Quincy Center by opting to create some new “bump-in” parking space along Saville Avenue where drivers have long illegally parked their rides and so blocked traffic while they run into the convenience store in Presidents Place or drop off and pick up passengers.
While this new short-term parking space will surely prove to be a good thing, the City of Quincy did not see the wisdom of shorting the new parking area by a handful of feet and so continue to provide a sidewalk that does not require the skills of a tightrope walker to traverse.
After all, if Quincy Quarry can readily figure out a simple solution to this impending problem, one would think that even the Koch Machine might perhaps also have a keen sense of the obvious; however, apparently not.
One cannot help but assume that this curious new sidewalk design surely poses Americans with Disabilities Act building code violations.
Then again, Quincy Quarry News’ ever-growing legions of loyal readers know, the Koch Machine views “… the code is more what you call guidelines than actual rules.”
I’ve got it! A bicycle-lane-sidewalk. Or something . . .
