Ohio to give away five million prizes and full college scholarships via lotteries for those vaccinated for COVID-19.
Cha-CHING!
In an effort to encourage Ohioans to undertake COVID-19 vaccinations given recent declines in vaccine demand in Ohio, its Republican Governor Mike DeWine, a well-regarded low key manager who makes Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker look like a party animal, has rolled out a lottery-style program so as to help encourage Ohioans to see themselves vaccinated against COVID-19.
There will be five weekly million lottery drawings for a $1 million prize open to residents who’ve received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
A similar lottery for teenagers will provide the lucky with a full, four-year scholarship to a public university in Ohio; however, at press time for Quincy Quarry’s weekend edition, it was unclear how many college scholarships would be awarded or if room and board are included.
Even so, the chance for at least free tuition has to be a motivator for parents to see their children jabbed.
That and Quincy Quarry will continue to monitor what other states might undertake to encourage their residents who have yet to be vaccinated to see themselves vaccinated.
