— News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News with commentary added.
Quincy continues to be in the COVID-19 Yellow Zone.
In fact, Quincy’s COVID-19 case per 100,000 has dropped significantly below the statewide average cases per 100,000 average even if Quincy’s testing positive rate is almost the same differential higher than the statewide average for testing positively.
Regardless, even with Quincy still stuck in the Yellow Zone for COVID-19 risk, Quincy Mayor Tom Koch has announced that he will be reinstating Quincy’s Flag Day Parade next month in the wake of a COVID-19 cancellation last year.
Granted, while an open-air event, one can only reasonably wonder if resuming the parade this year is a prudent action.
Granted, some precautions are planned, including relocating the post parade fireworks display from shot off over Black’s Creek to out to sea over Quincy Bay, one can only assume that Mayor Koch’s love of leading the parade may have overridden any concerns about public safety.
That and wrap the flag around himself and as do most politicians even if he has canceled the traditional flag-raising ceremony in Quincy on Flag Day.
