Nearly a fifth of Massachusetts’ mayors stepping down this year, be it not running for reelection, moving on to a new gig, or term-limited out of office.

Unfortunately for long-suffering residents of Quincy, however, Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch is not among them as his current term in office runs until January 1, 2024.

Granted, there are other ways for Mayor Koch to exit office, but long-suffering locals can only hope for these options.

In any event, for those who are stepping down, COVID-19 fatigue would clearly at least appear to be at least a significant contributing factor.

Fatigue, likely – but so far no reports of being handsy

For example, exhaustion dealing with the pandemic 24/7 and now over 365 days and still counting.  And for another, care of people criticizing their response to it and as is perhaps best currently exemplified by the apparently at least also handsy New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

In turn, will even more mayors be following those leaving office voluntarily care of voters voting them out of office via the upcoming primaries and elections later this year?
