Quincy continues to remain solidly in COVID-19 Red Zone risk status.

While the COVID-19 infection and test positive rates declined in Quincy from last week’s rates, Quincy is not one of the 43 Massachusetts communities that moved from Red Zone to but Yellow Zone risk status this week.

Rather, Quincy is among the 110 Massachusetts communities out of the 351 communities statewide still in COVID-19 Red Zone risk status.

Conversely, among the many communities moving to Yellow Zone status this week includes Braintree.

In turn, Quincy is now abutted by now Yellow Zone Braintree as well as by the long-ongoing Yellow Zone communities of Boston and Milton.

While both Quincy’s cases per 100,000 and test positive percentage rates declined from last week’s level, the cases per 100,000 is only 8% lower than the statewide average whereas the test positive rate is a third higher than the state’s average for this metric.

Further, if recent trends continue, Quincy will probably remain in the Red Zone per next week’s impending Department of Public Health COVID-19 Weekly Update.

And as for the week following, who only knows what will happen as it will be when ongoing concerns about Super Bowl gatherings turning out to be superspreader events might begin to impact COVID-19 infection rates.
