Vaccine and vaccination site struggles complicate Baker’s vaccine push.

Given how things have gone so far during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is only reasonable to expect that new problems would arise as government and health officials

In particular, how otherwise healthy and livingly independently seniors over 75 who can now sign up for vaccinations are facing all manner of problems and travails trying to sign up to be vaccinated.

Problems range from overburdened phone lines to confusing to seniors online registration software.

So bad are the problems that the Massachusetts chapter of the AARP is calling for implementing senior-friendly and human-facilitated COVID-19 vaccination information and sign-up operations.

Further troubling, starting on Monday, senior with no risk factors other than age between the ages of 65 and 74 will also be allowed to run an already gummed-up gauntlet.

Even so, Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch announced that as mayor he arranged with a local healthcare service to commence the registration process for vaccination by those 75 and over starting next week. 

No word, however, on when locals between the ages of 65 and 74 can seek to be vaccinated via this program or when the program may actually have doses of vaccine to meet demand.

Needless to say, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to monitor this impending local vaccination operation and report back as might be appropriate.
