Massachusetts Gun shop owners say demand has surged.
Massachusetts gun shop owners say they have seen a dramatic increase in people wanting to purchase a firearm in spite of the fact that there is a detailed, step-by-step process required before one can obtain a license to carry in the Commonwealth and which has some of the most stringent controls for securing legal gun ownership.
“It can take anywhere from two months to six months,” explained Chris Kielty, owner of Precision Point Firearms in Woburn.
“The home firearms safety class is required in order to obtain your license to carry. It’s a four-hour class,” added certified firearms instructor Lakasha Robbins and who is also the co-founder of Massachusetts Women Gun Owners.
Further telling, her organization has gained 75 members in just the last two months.
Additionally telling is how, while anecdotally, the recent surge in gun sales in the Commonwealth appears to be at least somewhat bipartisan as regards the politics of prospective fire arms license holders.
At the same time, while Quincy Quarry News supports a reasonable honoring of the Second Amendment as well as that many of its personnel are well-experienced in the proper uses of firearms, it concurrently views newbies opting to pack as self-inflicted accidents looking to happen.
Further troubling yet, this recent uptick in firearms sales has been experienced nationwide.
In response to it, Walmart and a number of other retailers that offer a wide range of products for sale are at least temporary pulling firearms and ammunition from their shelves in an abundance of caution over concerns of potential violence arising care of this year’s presidential election.
