Chicago Tops Orkin’s ‘Rattiest Cities’ Ranking for Sixth Consecutive Year.
Orkin Pest Control rolled out it annual ranking of the rattiest cities in the United States.
Chicago retained the top spot in a ranking no one wants for the sixth year in a row.
So far, however, no comment from former Democratic Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel, who was Chicago’s mayor from 2011 to 2019, and thus rightfully owns responsibility for Chicago’s six year streak as the rattiest city in United States.
New York, on the other hand, came in at third and Boston unluckliy moved up a spot to thirteenth.
And for Quincy locals who might find some comfort that Quincy was not on the list or Quincy’s City Hall opting to yet again shovel some bovine byproduct, fuhgettaboutit as Orkin rankings only consider larger cities and thus Quincy was not considered for a top fifty rat ranking.
As noted by both the Center for Disease Control and Orkin Pest Control, the rat problem is particularly pernicious this year as the COVID-19 has greatly impacted rats food sources.
Prime factors are that restaurant operations have been greatly impacted by pandemic restrictions as well as that many of those eating more at home of late are making the most of their food and thus throwing out less of it in the trash.
In turn, rats have thus become more far ranging and aggressive in their foraging as they desperately search for food.
