Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap: The world is a sadder place.
Quincy native Jake Kennedy died earlier this week in New Hampshire of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Jake and his wife Sparky founded Christmas in the City over thirty years ago and it has grown such as to be to host a huge annual Christmas party for thousands of underprivileged children and their caretakers at the Boston Convention Center.
Christmas in the City also helps facilitate the successful transition of homeless families into stable housing, provides Thanksgiving dinner baskets with all the fixings to those in need, and other sorts of help to help those who could use some.
Words and even video fail to convey the fun, joy and appreciation of the guests at the annual Christmas in the City Christmas party which will unfortunately not happen this year given the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even so, Christmas in the City will be providing Christmas gifts to children in need this year as well as the annual party is slated to return next year.
Christmas in the City is an all-volunteer operation that has literally thousands of volunteers as well as even more supporters and grateful fans.
Many more.
Even so, as well as for all manner of good reasons, Quincy Quarry News readers who have the time or means to help out can find out how to do so here.
