New local COVID-19 cases moving Quincy further into the yellow zone.
While admittedly current case counts are nowhere near as bad as during earlier this year, local COVID-19 infection rates have continued to go up from recent green zone local lows to ever higher levels in the yellow zone.
At this point, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has elevated Quincy to exactly in the middle of the yellow zone.
Even more troubling, the local COVID-19 risk ranking has steadily increased in recent weeks.
Further, if the recent upward trend continues, Quincy could well find itself in the red zone in coming weeks.
In fact, things could potentially hit the fan right around when Mayor Koch has pressed local schools to pervasively resume in-class learning sooner than originally planned in what itself was a narrowly approved plan championed by Mayor Koch.
That and at odds with legitimate concerns of local teachers.
Even so, in Mayor Koch’s latest COVID-19 YouTube video, he talks around the fact that infection numbers in Quincy have been rising in recent weeks.
Think tukas covering, not to mention that there is a lot of tukas to cover.
Accordingly, Mayor Koch quickly moved onto other things in a video that ran roughly half as long as his usual well-scripted by someone else bloviating before opting to close even more quickly with his well-practiced faux bonhomie.
For starters, he quickly shifted to announcing that he would not be cancelling Halloween locally and justified his not doing so by saying that if he did riskier Halloween parties would likely result.
At the same time, he foreran well in advance that he has cancelled local annual Veterans Day commemorance activities so as to mitigate the potential for blowback.
After all, veterans tend to thing or two about combat whereas he is not so experienced.
Close the damn bar rooms. Find a place for the homeless — get them all off the streets and somewhere safe. Do something about these kids who run through the city in droves as they are probably spreading the virus from family to family. I know the police try with them, but a stricter plan for these little white supremacists is needed!
