Las Vegas bars, taprooms, and breweries to reopen again on Sunday

Las Vegas bars, taprooms, breweries to reopen again on Sunday, September 21.

Nevada’s COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force on Thursday unanimously voted to allow drinking only businesses throughout the Las Vegas Valley to reopen with limited capacity, distance between customers and masks all around. 

Apparently, the reopening approval implicitly mandates the use of straws.

In any event, bars, taprooms and breweries can resume pouring adult libations at 11:59 PM on Sunday.

Yes, you read that right: 11:59 PM on a Sunday.  In Las Vegas, bars and liquor stores can operate twenty-four hours a day. 

Then again, what better way to start the day as early as possible on a Monday?

Further note that paper or plastic open container roadie cups are allowed in Vegas while out and about in public with but minimal as well as less than strictly enforced restrictions.

Vegas bars, tap rooms and breweries that do not serve food were initially allowed to reopen on May 29 following the first COVID-19 pandemic closure order on March 17, only to again be ordered to again close on July 13 given a spike in new cases of COVID-19.

This second reopening comes even though Nevada’s most recent COVID-19 testing positive rate was 7.8% whereas in Massachusetts where not food serving establishments featuring adult libations are still closed in spite of a statewide testing positive rate but a tenth of Nevada’s rate.

Then again, while technically just drinking at a Massachusetts licensed restaurant is proscribed, it must be noted that it would appear that a popular establishment on Washington Street near Quincy Center was both socially not distant busy as well as serving at least almost exclusively drinks in one of its two bars Thursday night while the Boston Celtics were again going down to defeat in the second game of the Eastern Conference NBA finals.
