Surveillance cameras captured the moment a customer at The Ming Dynasty restaurant turned violent late Tuesday night. A still image from security video.
A Quincy police officer and his female companion banned from Marshfield restaurant after a ‘Rona Rage incident.
While regional media were all over this explosive incident, including the South Shore Broadsheet’s media partner WCVB Channel 5, the broadsheet appears to have buried or at least been asleep at the switch on what is a do you know who I am and then temper tantrum sort of an incident.
Update: Better late than never: South Shore Broadsheet finally covers running amok in Marshfield restaurant.
Fortunately, not only did Quincy Quarry’s media brethren at Boston 25 cover the story, including not only scoring a copy of security video documenting the incident, the Boston 25 field reporter got the get of a considerate video interview of the female co-owner of the restaurant who was clearly terrorized by the explosive incident.
Apparently, a small party, which included a Quincy police officer, rolled into Marshfield’s Ming Dynasty restaurant late Tuesday night with a purported attitude but apparently without masks, at least some of the group suspected of smelling of alcohol as well as said to be ill-behaving.
Restaurant staff then politely endeavored to request compliance with no shirt, no shoes, no mask COVID-19 pandemic, no service regulations which the restaurant has been duly honoring after it was hit with a one day suspension last month for not doing so previously.
Duly honoring the rules in return, however, was said to have not been endeavored by the group including the Quincy police officer and instead, among other things, the police officer pulled a “do you know who I am” by flashing some sort of VIP ID.
While Quincy Quarry tends to not name names in situations such as this one, it does know the name of officer and who is one of the several Sullivans on the Quincy Police force.
In any event, after the Quincy Police officer flashed the ID to apparently endeavor to intimidate restaurant personnel as well as given that those with him are said to have continued to be inconsiderate of others patronizing the restaurant, the group was then cut off from purchasing adult libations or food as well as asked to leave.
The woman apparently accompanying the Quincy police officer then did a nutty on her way out the door, both shoving a restaurant employee as well as trashing the plexiglass screens at the restaurant’s cash register podium and which were caught on video.
No word to date, however, if the woman was the officer’s wife or if the officer might have been out and about with a woman not his wife or if he might even have a wife.
Update: Not his wife.
Contemporaneously, Marshfield police were called to the scene.
In turn, the two most ill-behaving parties were subsequently “trespassed“ and are thus subject to arrest if they ever again enter the restaurant.
Unfortunately, Marshfield police apparently did not arrive in time to perhaps impose a prophylactic roadside sobriety check of the designated driver(s) for the booted party.
On the other hand, Marshfield Police Chief Phillip Tavares did state that “It appears that they (restaurant personnel, ed.) were trying to do the right things.”
Tavares added that he has been in touch with Quincy police, who are investigating a matter that involved one of their own.
“The officer didn’t exhibit any criminal behavior that I was aware of, maybe some inappropriate behavior,” said Tavares.
“I have spoken to the Quincy police chief, and I am assured that he’ll take whatever appropriate action that he deems necessary, if any at all,” added Tavares.
At the same time, surely but confidentially one of Quincy Mayor Koch’s brothers in law Quincy Police Chief Paul “The Beav” Keenan has to date yet again not made himself been available for comment on this latest embarrassing event among a number of which have involved Quincy police personnel.
Then again, the Beav all but never makes himself available for comment unless he has been slapped with a subpoena to testify in court or otherwise be deposed under oath.
