The new normal on top of the Green Monster.

Red Sox feast on Orioles in season opener.
In last night’s Red Sox season opener played at Fenway Park without any fans present, the Red Sox ran up the biggest win at the start of the almost four months COVID-19 pandemic delayed start of the 2020 Major League Baseball season.
In an emergency Opening Day start by Nathan Evoladi given an abundance of caution taken to hold off on returning Red Sox ace Eduardo Rodriguez to the team roster after his recent fortunately not severe case of COVID-19, Evolidi pitched a crisp six innings of five hit but only one run ball.
Conversely, the Red Sox scored a lucky 13 runs on 17 hits.
Amazingly, not a single run scored by the Red Sox last night was via a home run, much less were any of the fan photo cutouts on top of the Green Monster dinged by a dinger.
Then again, beating the Orioles these days is on the order of beating a college team during preseason.
Even so, the return of big league baseball is big news as well as a great joy to many even if game broadcasters are piping in crowd sound tracks to make up for the fact that fans currently cannot attend games.
In particular, the joy of a little kid eager to play ball back to one of the greatest human beings currently playing Major League Baseball.
417 days. It’s been 417 days since I played a Major League Baseball game. The longest I have ever gone since I picked up a bat at the age of 5. I’ve cried, laughed, worked, and grown throughout this process that at times, seemed endless. I’ve missed this game so much. Now, I’m ready pic.twitter.com/j4Kbr7fJzu
