Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap: A New Normal Still Pending?

Other than endeavoring to find toilet paper, many people are hunkered down watching streaming video to both pass the time as well as procrastinate from undertaking spring cleaning given that public libraries are closed and bookstores have all but been run out of business by Amazon.

And as for toilet paper, while Quincy Quarry does know where limited supplies are available for sale, per the request of local law enforcement, the Quarry has agreed to not disclose where toilet paper might be available for sale so as to head off the potential for horders to riot.

At the same time, the Quarry is doing all that it can to exposé the foolishness of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s recent talking up of the possibility of reopening the long-closed Quincy Medical Center to help address the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fortunately for taxpayers who would be stuck with the bill, this latest Koched-up plan will likely instead implode all but on its own given various breathtakingly fatal problems with it even per the usual Kochian nonsense.

Key reasons why the hospital will all but assuredly not be reopened include the following.

The hospital has deteriorated considerably since it closed six years ago and many of its buildings’ major systems have been variously decommissioned.

Accordingly, the cost to rehabilitate the hospital to merely but a makeshift condition would be wastefully profligate even per the usual Kochian standards.

Further, the time to do the work needed to bring the hospital back into all but assuredly just temporary service would likely take at least as long to more likely much longer to complete than COVID-19 will likely continue to be a major problem.

Accordingly, the likely best case possibility is to set up temporary tent testing facilities somewhere on the former hospital’s now mostly empty parking lots – assuming that is, staffing for it can be sourced.

In turn, such baits a perhaps more problematic question: why is Mayor Koch not letting the sleeping dog of local rancor over the hospital’s closing on his watch continue to sleep.

Talk about an unforced error, asking for a bite on the tukas – whatever.
