Americans are not practicing democracy anymore.
As participation in civic life has dwindled, so has public faith in the country’s system of government.
While the author of this reprised article from Atlantic Magazine arguably does not fully address the all too often caustic nature of participation by all too many within Social Media or Quincy Quarry’s deeply held belief that Americans end up with the elected officials they deserve, both good and bad, this article is still well worth the but a few minutes it will take to read.

Unfortunately, all too many rarely read much more than a no more than 280 characters maximum tweet – much less do any fact checking whatsoever, and thus unfortunately the valid points made by this article’s author are likely to not be widely read by those who should be reading and then pondering them.
It used to be different.
Honest.
Editor’s Note: This article is part of a series that attempts to answer the question: “Is democracy dying?”
