Quincy Public School Renovation Projects Running Late?
While numerous workers were working overtime on a Labor Day long holiday weekend Saturday so that the roughly $25 million in costs incurred to date new over the top park in front of Quincy’s City Hall might be sufficiently completed for its scheduled official dedication next Saturday, no one was working today on the less than complete parking, driveway and playground repaving projects at Bernazanni Elementary School even though a new school year starts on Wednesday.
Granted, while only a modest amount of work is needed to complete the project, if no one is working today to wrap things up, such leaves only Tuesday to do so before school resumes on Wednesday as tomorrow is Sunday and Monday is the Labor Day holiday.
In the meanwhile, already there are concerns about work completed so far.
For but one example, what looks to be an obvious safety concern courtesy of paving too close to a piece of playground equipment.
Further, any top coating of the newly repaved playground hard surface will likely have to be down while school is in session and so at least preclude students from heading out for recess, if not also perhaps expose them to fumes from any topcoating as it cures after it is applied.
How many other hazards remain hazards remain to be exposéd?
As such, count on Quincy Quarry to monitor the situation and report back as appropriate to the needs and concerns of its helicopter parent readership as well as for advance notice to parents who find hovering parents amusing to observe.
