After just over a week of relative quietude about the various scandals involving the Massachusetts State Police, new breaking badly bad news© has hit the fan for the staties.

The Boston Globe has reported that Massachusetts State Police Troop F troopers are paid forty dollars each time they drive their own car to work at their barracks at Logan Airport.

At least one trooper earned nearly $13,000.00 last year from this one benefit and the state comptroller’s website shows that the average Troop F trooper earned $8,000.00 from this perk.

Not noted, however, is how much additional benefit that troopers are enjoying in the way of free parking at expensive to park at Logan Airport.

While Troop F is part of Massachusetts State Police, it is (very generously, ed.) funded by Massport to patrol Logan Airport and the Seaport District along the South Boston Waterfront.

And in other related developments, the state police released a statement to Boston 25 News Wednesday morning which noted, among other things, that the head of state police has initiated a three day review of F Troop operations.

The state police added that Massport has been “diligently disclosing” F Troop pay records ever since it was reported that this information had not been put onto public websites and that this review process is ongoing.

In the meanwhile, Quincy Quarry’s crime desk team continue to suspect that by the time the guano stops flying the Massachusetts State Police will have been hit by the worst police force scandal to hit any large police force in the country in the history of the country.
