State Senator Stanley Rosenberg takes leave of absence from Senate Presidency.
State Senator Stan Rosenberg announced today that he is temporarily stepping down as Senate president while impending investigations into allegations of sexual harassment committed by his husband proceed.
Unclear, however, is how Senate rules would allow him to take a temporarily step aside as well as have the option to return to the State Senate Presidency on his call at some future date.

Whether there are clear or unclear rules regarding a temporary step aside or not, Rosenberg plans to come back. The Massachusetts Senate has a history of finding a way to make sure their own interests are first and foremost. If the power struggle going on right now determines that Rosenberg can get his job back, rules will be ignored, written or rewritten to allow just that.
Sybil,
Quincy Quarry fully appreciates your cynicism.
Even so, I have three names for you: DiMasi, Finneran and Flaherty.
Plus, current Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Robert DeLeo has long looked to be but a dime away from the feds hitting for the cycle.
It warmed my heart when DiMasi, Finneran and Flaherty got booted. There are however still too many other former State Senators and even Senate Presidents who aren’t in jail. Murray, Bulger, Joyce to name a few without even having to think. Far more got away with their crimes than got caught.
Sybil,
No argument, there is as well as has been plenty of slime in the swamp. Even so, others have also been convicted.
That and the feds aren’t yet done with Joyce. Not by a long shot.
