Worcester found to be a dangerous place for pedestrians; so too is Quincy.
A recent study found that Worcester is the most dangerous place for pedestrians in the Commonwealth, and such has been reported by the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
At the same time, the data junkies at Quincy Quarry took a look at the study’s data and found that Quincy also ranks high on the list.
Surprisingly high, as a matter of dangerous fact.
Per a preliminary review of the data, Quincy comes in fifth in terms of its number of the most dangerous intersections in Commonwealth.
Worcester had 51 of the top 497 most dangerous intersections tabulated by this study, Fall River and Lynn tied at 35, Lowell has 32, and Quincy rounding out the top five with 27.
Particularly worrisome for Quincy pedestrians, far larger, more congested as well as roughly seven times more populous Boston only had 26 of the top most dangerous intersections in the Commonwealth.
Granted, the report’s findings are not readily amenable to duly weighting the data so as to discern just how dangerous things are for pedestrians in a particular community as compared to all of the hundreds of communities in the Commonwealth.
Even so, the number of how many dangerous intersections are in a particular community as compared to other communities is decent opening way to look at things.
