Ski Joring is said to be a common sports activity in rural parts of Canada – at least as common as can be the case in the sparsely populated near tundra of much of rural Canada – and in northern Rocky Mountain states of the United States.
The basic premise is basically free-style skiing meets harness racing.
Let’s just say that when snowbound for as long as are many Canadians are in the Great White North, idle creativity kicks in to provide an excuse to down a few Molson’s and or quaff some Labatt’s.
The same can also be said about American cowboys hankering for Coors draft.
Then again, a solid case can be made that essentially all sports are an excuse for drinking beer – or at the very least ending up with sponsorships from beer makers.
In any event, do note that Canada has a lot of cowboys – relatively speaking, that is – given that it raises a lot of cattle.
That and how the Calgary Stampede is one of the major rodeos of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo circuit as well as that at the end of the day horsing around is still horsing around no matter what form it may take.
