Quincy embattled Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s support hits the ground?
While duly embattled incumbent Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch hosted his pasta buffet line campaign kick-off event – replete with hoped to be deep-pocketed special interests, various coat holders and other mandatory attendees ripe for pocket pickings, his latest announced challenger took up most of the media oxygen last week in the wake of his widely as well as long-hoped for formal announcement that he is yet again tossing his hat into the ring.
Then, adding insult to injury, this return bout challenger was favorably highlighted for the first time in a long time – as well as for a change – in a political cartoon in the weekend edition of the South Shore broadsheet.
The incumbent, however, has not enjoyed much – if any – favorable press of late.
His media and other shortcomings further include that the local weekly apparently did not even bother covering Koch’s pasta buffet line kick-off.
At the same time, whether – or not – the weekly stops reprising all but verbatim as well as without comment all of the nonsense promulgated by Koch spokesmodel Chris “Pinnochio” Walkbacker remains to be seen.
Further, there is word aplenty on the increasing mean as well as dangerous streets of the Q that many who are currently sporting blue bumper stickers on their vehicles will not be voting for the could be singing the Blues incumbent come November, if not perhaps instead as soon as after the September primary.
In the meanwhile, the embattled incumbent has to write off much in the way of labor support come the upcoming elections.
Regardless, while it is still early in the campaign season which is sure to be a Battle Royale involving at least one heavyweight and someone else long known for hitting nothing but net from the top of the key, expect Quincy Quarry to cover this upcoming in ways other media only wish that they could do.

Throwing Koch signs on the ground? Looks more like a recovery program in action to me.
Once they start referring to you as “embattled” in the Media, you know that your political live is over.
Let’s get the monkey off our backs!
