Quincy hit by snow and freezing rain to follow.
After one of the more snow-free winters on record, Quincy is facing perhaps its first approaching moderate snowfall.
While Quincy Quarry’s meteorological desk suspects that its broadcast media brethren are a bit overly excited after a so far cold but little snowfall winter, who can blame them?
Even so, while this storm could be the most significant snow event this winter, Quincy Quarry suspects that the expected freezing range on the back end of the storm will likely pose the most problems come tomorrow.
For example, for local residents who park on the street.
In an arguable overabundance of caution or perhaps finally facing up to its myriad of shortcomings, the City of Quincy imposed a limited street parking snow emergency starting at 5 pm this evening.
So what, apparently, for the fact that by just short of 7 pm this evening snowfall totals were only an inch or so in Quincy Center and the rate of snowfall was both abating as well as already shifting towards sleet and liquid precipitation sooner than had been forecast earlier today.
That and nowhere were any snow plow equipment anywhere to be seen on local streets.

Fortunately, while the Quincy Public Schools cancelled after school activities today, so far school officials have not called for a snow day tomorrow.
