Quincy’s Veterans Memorial Field over budget and running behind schedule as per usual for City of Quincy projects.
In turn, these snafus delayed the re-turfing project’s completion until at least late November and so costing high school athletes an entire season of playing on their home field this fall as well as caused all manner of disruption for other local sports teams as alternative plans had to be cobbled together.
Further, while the Koch Maladministration belatedly added that the work should be completed in time for the annual North Quincy High/Quincy High Turkey Bowl game, it is only fair to note that no maladministration official would stake her or his life on it.
Needless to say, several city councillors were livid over it all and said as much at this week’s City Council meeting.
Additionally, a council member pointed out that a number of other local recreational and park projects renovation projects have similarly run late and/or also over budget, some of which were previously exposéd by Quincy Quarry.
Quincy Quarry does not know if the Quarry’s previous efforts fueled council member ire, but it does suspect that at least a few of them monitor the findings as well as duly consider the sentiments of the Quarry.
