City of Quincy employee poaching public parking space?
As parking in Quincy Center continues to become even more scarce even as the Koch Administration is preparing to spend upwards of two million dollars to rent private parking spaces as well as provide valet and shuttle services to mitigate the impact of the next round of construction disruption in Quincy Center, it appears that a city employee is continuing to use what is now a public parking space to park his city ride to facilitate his commute to and from his job at the Department of Public Works.
Per the eagle eye of a reliable source and longtime Quincy Quarry Citizen Journalist, someone who apparently works in the Department of Public Works’ Inspectional Services unit has long been parking his city ride in the surface parking lot in front of the Quincy Center MBTA station overnight as well as over weekends so as to apparently facilitate his catching a train to travel to and fro his residence.
Such, in turn, takes a free public parking space away from use by the public, not to mention so both violates the posted parking restrictions as well as also puts a city vehicle at risk to damage while it spends most of the time left parked somewhere other than on city property.
Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to both City Hall as well as the City of Quincy’s Department of Public Works for comment, however, it decided not to bother after ending up stuck with no useful options to route out of City Hall’s automated attendant call answering system (a.k.a., “Voice Mail Jail”) on another as well as far simpler matter.
Conversely, Quincy Quarry decided to instead use the time so saved by ducking ending up left on hold to instead work on more exposés that are soon follow in this latest Quarry series of exposés addressing the apparent abuse of posted public parking use restrictions by City of Quincy employees.
Shame on the Patriot Ledger for silencing all of the commenters who provide a daily dose of humor and reality to the Q. What a total sham of a newspaper.
Gimp,
Good to see you have joined the ever-growing legions of Quincy Quarry readers!!! And yes, the Ledger has no sense of humor. That and ever fewer readers. Hater trolls, on the other hand …
