Quincy City Hall facing even more construction upheaval.
Just as the Hancock Street Misalignment project appears to perhaps be finally wrapping up after running almost twice as long to complete as was originally promised to take to complete as well as in the wake of the the prior fire delayed twice as expense as was also promised renovation of old City Hall, the next grandiose expense inflicted upon taxpayers by the Koch Maladministration is about to commence.
The latest boondoggle?
The currently projected to run “only” $15.7 million second phase of construction on the Hancock-Adams Green in front of Quincy’s inexplicable two city halls.
Already at least $6 million – but probably much more – has been spent on prep work for Kim Jung Koch Plaza – as the Hancock Adams Green is better known to those in the know.
Further, most likely an at least similar extravagant amount further yet will be likely be spent to complete the plaza after completion of the still yet to be merely but tentatively projected possible completion of a complete reconstruction of the Quincy MBTA station as well as its long condemned and thus also long closed parking garage.
After all, no major public infrastructure project in Quincy has been completed on time and/or on budget during the era of Koch Maladministration.
Not even close as a matter of long ongoing fact.
In the meanwhile, the Quincy Quarry News newsroom touts have set the total cost over and under for Kim Jung Koch Plaza at $30 million.
Also unknown at this time is if and when the Koch Maladministration might stage a photo op for the start of its latest expensive boondoggle.
However, giving the mayor’s penchant for hogging the spotlight, one can only expect that a photo op will be staged.
