The morning commute along Southern Artery in Quincy Point today was turned into a wet mess when a water line broke just as the morning commute was starting to roll.
Quincy Quarry must further report that the flooded area has been undergoing an ongoing water line replacement project and it is thus only reasonable to assume that the water main break was likely the result of a Q-up by the crew redoing water lines in the area.
Further, while when Quincy Quarry News Mobile One arrived on the scene the flooding had abated, it clearly appeared that the flooding happened more in the neighborhood of somewhere along Stewart Street near its intersection with Southern Artery than Pond Street and Southern Artery a block away.

Another morning commute sabotaged by the ever-reliable infrastructure of Quincy. This time, it’s a water main break on the Southern Artery. Because who doesn’t love the thrill of an unexpected detour and an extra half hour added to their drive to work?
Nothing says “good morning” quite like navigating through a small lake where a road used to be. And let’s not forget the added bonus of wondering if your car will morph into a submarine before you reach the office. Maybe we should start packing life vests along with our coffee mugs.
Thank you, Quincy, for turning the mundane morning commute into a wet and wild adventure. Who needs amusement parks when we have our very own splash zone on the way to work?
This tragic moment may be the result of the Mayor Koch’s years-long battle with the EPA over the pollution from the local storm water and sewer drainage infrastructure leaking into the harbor. He lost the fight, has to spend 100 million dollars over a decade and change to fix the leaks. Guess the water/sewer bills will be increasing soon.
