The District Attorney’s prosecution team for the Karen Read trial
An old Columbia Pictures

Quincy Quarry News has for the most part long deferred from covering the curious charges against and now winding down trial of Karen Read for allegedly killing her boyfriend John O’Keefe, a then Boston police officer, via an allegedly pedestrian whacking by her while an the throes of in a drunken jealous rage on a dark and snowy night in Canton in late January of 2022.

Pedestrian whacking angle, a long ongoing and more than occasionally fatal local problem in Quincy and which Quincy Quarry has thus doggedly covered, and how the Norfolk County District Attorney is a Squantum resident notwithstanding, Quincy Quarry News’ City Editor’s view is that what happens in Canton should stay the swive in Canton.

Then again, nothing is cast in concrete, much less did anything strike concrete as regards O’Keefe’s death.

In turn, last night’s events triggered such an example.

The triggering event, Turtleboy and his current girlfriend opted to go out to dinner at a Canton restaurant that was one of the places where the the late John O’Keefe, defendant Karen Read, and others were out and about drinking heavily shortly before O’Keefe death.

While neither Turtleboy nor his boo did anything improper during their date night dinner, the restaurant is next door to a pizza shop operated by a member of the posse of Canton homers who defendant Read’s defense team allege some posse member or members is or are actually responsible for O’Keefe’s death and thus have endeavored to frame Ms. Read for the violent death of Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe.

Accordingly as well as only to be expected, after dinner while Turtle and his squeeze were heading out the door to their ride, they were put upon by a handful of members of the posse who were hanging out at the pizza shop.

While multiple incidents of arguable assault and battery were committed by various posse members in ways that were at the level of the maturity of high school students looking at perhaps permanent expulsions, Turtle and girlfriend were not to be imitated by the posse members who surely thought they were both gansta and protected local peeps, the posse members behaving badly were actually capones.

Particularly tough for the capones, Turtleoy and his female companion videoed things on their smartphones and shared same when police arrived on the scene.

Also responding to the scene: a local television network affiliate’s mobile news crew.

While responding Canton police officers did not arrest any of those who engaged in arguable assault and battery upon Turtleboy and his dining companion as police officers are not supposed to arrest anyone if they do not witness any such attacks.

Not to worry as well as again, Turtleboy and his amorata as well as others on the scene took ample video of posse members behaving badly.

In turn, Turtleboy has announced his plans to press charges against the Canton homers..

As for how the anticipated charges will likely play out in Stoughton District Court, Quincy Quarry News’ legal and other affairs desk expects that for all of the alleged juice of the posse, given how the heat is on at least certain Norfolk County and state law enforcement entities, assault and battery charges against the Canton homers will likely be adjudicated as continued without a founding.

UPDATE: Two charged with assaulting blogger ‘Turtleboy’ in confrontation outside Canton bar

In other words, the homers will need to behave themselves for typically a year or find themselves facing the potential to have to serve the full sentence for what may be continued without a finding (“CWOF”).

In turn, the touts on the Quincy Quarry sport desk will then be posting projected over and under dates for any individual posse members who might violate their CWOF imposed.

Finally, as for the Read trial, after a two months long trial the jury is conversely expected to render its verdict in record time.

After all, after seeing two months of their time gone and which they will never get back, jury members are are surely hoping to get outta the Dedham courthouse in time to enjoy next week’s Fourth of July holiday.

That and have some time to meet with agents pitching books deals and paid interviews with print and video tabloids before enjoying well-deserved chillings after weeks of inane grillings of witless witnesses.
