Quincy got lucky for a change.

Sorta/kinda anyway.

The Blizzard of 2026 both focused its worst mostly south of Quincy as well as dumped more fluffy snow on the Q than the heavy and sloppy winter mix that was expected.

Quincy was covered with around fourteen inches of snow technically but given howling winds both drifts and lesser coverage was typical whereas  many other communities south of Quincy suffered twice to as much as almost three times as much snowfall.

Power and cable service were also largely steady for Quincy locals other than brief outages and the rare fallen tree limb taking out of service to a single residence whereas most of Marshfield was all but offline along with pretty much all of the Cape.

Even so, snowplowing efforts in Quincy was variable and which has all too typically been the case this winter.

While primary local  roads were generally kept open along with even some widely plowed, most residential streets other than one in particular North Quincy typically ranged from goat paths to better traveled by dog sled or snowmobiles.

In short, arguable triage snow clearing of local streets.

Further problematic, a second snow day in a row was declared today was declared and so extended the winter school vacation to eleven days.

Needless to say, many local parents of school age children are thus at least approaching their breaking points.

Even further troubling is a forecast of a light snowfall for tomorrow.

While but a coating to perhaps a couple or so inches or of snow is anticipated, such could be enough to push some already over-stressed locals over the edge and perhaps even into a crevasse or through pond ice hidden by snow.

Accordingly, Quincy Quarry News’ every growing legions of loyal readers to cover the snow news of the day and thus unlike the Boston broadsheet which will not be printing the news of the day today.
