The MBTA steps up and delivers in the wake of last night’s snow storm.

In a continuing effort to try to report on positive news, however hard it is to find, Quincy Quarry has ironically found that the MBTA has stepped up to plate.

Not only will a scan of all manner of online sources of information find that for the most part the MBTA managed to function today, it even did some something for the public locally which the City of Quincy has so far failed to do: restore some curbside public parking availability that had been covered high with snow.

After struggling mightily during the early light of day – if not even earlier – to clear snow from the Quincy Center MBTA bus station and which was made particularly difficult given ongoing demolition work at the station, by midday the T was seeing to it that public parking at its station would be cleared in time to be used for picking up passengers during the evening commute.

In turn, it is thus only fair to give the MBTA some credit even if it won’t make a dent in the T’s huge backlog of demerits.

Clearing of street parking spaces by the City of Quincy, however, continues to not be happening and as we face a hard freeze over the next few days.
