Representative Conyers not quitting after Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi calls on him to resign.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Democrat, California) on Thursday called on Michigan Democratic Representative John Conyers, currently the longest serving Member of Congress, to resign, saying sexual harassment allegations against him were serious and credible.
Representative Conyers’ attorney, however, said he was not thinking of stepping down.
“It is not up to Nancy Pelosi,” attorney Arnold Reed told reporters in Detroit, Michigan. “Nancy Pelosi did not elect the congressman, and she sure as hell won’t be the one that (sic) tells the congressman to leave.”
“That decision will be completely up to the congressman. He’s not thought of that,” Reed said.
Instead, per Reed, Conyers, 88, was focusing on his health after being hospitalized late on Wednesday after suffering dizziness, light-headedness and shortness of breath.
In other words, expect a press release to be released late on some upcoming Friday afternoon so as to take advantage of the normally quiet weekend news cycle to announce that “health problems” are precipitating Representative Conyers’ deciding to step down after having served fifty-two years as a member of the United States House of Representatives.
In the meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer (Democrat, New York) has yet to state (publicly, ed.) that Senator Al Franken (Democrat, Minnesota) should resign in light of continuing as well as new accusations of inappropriate behavior by Senator Franken.

Mobsters have worn pajamas in public to feign mental illness so that they can avoid trials and/or jail. Conyers has shown up to meetings and political events in his jammies and it’s no act.
If Pelosi isn’t covering for him, there is more than the now run of the mill misconduct. Pelosi is notorious for defending the indefensible, so look past Conyer’s public issues and see what the secret ones are.
Those fainting spells were surely a precursor to Conyer’s announcing retirement due to health issues.
